Vince Porcelli Racing would like to welcome Michael Shane Ball to the team as of March 5, 2008. Mikey, as we call him will come on as an experienced driver and crew member after spending many years racing under the tutelage of his father with the Underdog Racing team. As Mikey puts it, “I’ve learned from the best, My Dad, and now I want to be the best!” Mikey will start off with learning the tune up and chassis set up of the car. He is expected to pick up on everything pretty quickly with his prior experience. His job will be learning all the details associated with maintaining, tuning and other crew member duties specific to the Vince Porcelli Race Team. April 12, 2008 will be his first time in the seat of the team car. He will handle the warm up and drivability testing of the car in the morning before the actual time trials begin. This will give him a chance to learn how the car handles, stops, steers and accelerates. All cars are different and they take some getting use to. Mikey is expected to move to the drivers seat very quickly and start testing for his eventual certification by NHRA and IHRA as a licensed driver of a car capable of going faster than 9.99 in the quarter mile. Hopefully this will all be accomplished by May 15, 2008. Vinnie and Mikey will share all duties as team mates to make the team even better than it is today! WELCOME TO THE TEAM MIKEY! |
